An all-encompassing brand identity
Balboa makes durable bamboo chillwear especially designed for going places. We were asked to create a fitting brand identity with design elements ranging from logo and landing page to packaging materials.
The idea
Balboa was founded by Robin. After developing a bathrobe for his own children and getting tons of positive reactions he saw opportunities to launch a new brand. To achieve this, he decided to look for partners who could translate his idea to develop an all-encompassing brand - from proposition to brand identity, website and packaging. With the selected proposition ‘Chillwear for Champions’ the brand could use a strong identity to reflect the rich, soft and comfortable feeling of the product’s fabric.
The challenge
It was a big challenge to shape the brand identity without the product being finished. We overcame this by focusing on the specifics of chillwear, for example by creating a soft-looking logo with rounded shapes. The logo not only had to be recognizable, but also easy to apply to all the brand’s products - from embroidery to communications and packaging materials.
An exciting landing experience
We wanted to give the landing page a strong identity as it would be the entry point to the Balboa webshop. As we were working with one hero product - the bathrobe - we aligned this with some outspoken characteristics of the brand, such as the friendly tone of voice and ton-sur-ton colours.
Creating the product
As the webshop called for many technical optimizations and closeup shots, each product needed to be meticulously digitally crafted in house by a 3D artist with close advice from our team.
Highlights
Balboa is about loungewear especially designed for going places. A brand in motion. The micro animations have a sense of ease to convey the ‘chill’ vibe and help the website visitors to have a better user experience in line with the brand identity.
The logo not only had to be recognizable, but also easy to apply to all the brand’s products - from embroidery to communications and packaging materials.
